English Football - Manchester United Conquers Premier League Title

For the third consecutive time, the Manchester United has appropriated the trophy of the English Premier League; this time the team obtained it after facing Arsenal in match that although finished without goals, helped the red devils to reach one more point to add a total of 87 which was enough for them to get the championship since their closest pursuer is Liverpool which has 83 points and with only one game left in the competition, they do not have opportunity to reach them.
it is a very touching triumph which has a great significance for the team directed by Sir Alex Ferguson, since with this trophy they ascend to 18 titles obtained in most prestigious league in the English football, thus reaching Liverpool’s record, that has the same amount of titles. This is the third great celebration for the Manchester United during the present season; they have also obtained the FIFA Club World Cup and the League Cup. In addition, the team could add one more honour this year since they will defend last year’s UEFA Champions League title next Wednesday May, 27th when they face the Spain champion, Barcelona FC.

The meeting between the Gunners and the Red Devils, that took place at the Old Trafford, initiated with the local team, Manchester, fully prepared to give a strong fight with the objective of reaching the point needed to retain their title. Manchester’s stars Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney were the ones in charge of the actions at their team, which despite its superiority did not get in the comfort zone at any moment of the game.

The pressure from both teams was mutual and constant; they were attacking each other with shots in the goal areas, which were well defended by Edwin van der Sar and Lukasz Fabianski respectively. Although there were no goals in the game, it was an enjoyable show full of good football where both teams struggled to remain firm.

During the first half, the attempts to open the score were more common from Manchester. In one of those occasions, the star Cristiano Ronaldo received a pass from Darren Fletcher and sent it straight to the goal of Fabianski, but Gunners defender Alexandre Song diverted the ball away, along with the illusions of their opponents. Another who had a chance to score was Wayne Rooney, but again, Arsenal did not allow it.

For the second part, the heated match continued with pressure from both teams, but at this time of the game, it was the Arsenal who tried to take control of the field, making some dangerous plays which Manchester United knew how to repel since they changed their game strategy to strengthen their defence so the red devils remained firm, not allowing the visitors to get closer to their area, which was well protected by Park Ji-Sung with the help of Brazilian midfielder Anderson.

In this way, Ferguson’s squad resisted the threats of an Arsenal that appeared dangerous and threatening, but that in the end it was shadowed by the imposing figure of a team that shines with its own light and that has earned in a great fashion and effort the honor to be considered as one of the best football clubs in the world.
